Differences Between Futaba UR Modes (UR1, UR2, UR3, UR4)†
UR Type1†
Ultra-fast and direct response. Even the slightest input causes the car to react quickly, allowing for sharp countersteering and rapid transitions.
Demands precise control. The extreme responsiveness can make the car overly sensitive, prone to oversteer, or lose control if not handled well.
Tremendous potential when mastered. Ideal for expert drivers aiming for high-speed switchbacks and aggressive, edgy driving.
Recommended for UR1:†
Experienced drivers with the skill to delicately control a highly responsive car
Those who enjoy aggressive, fast-paced driving with crisp, snappy movements
UR Type2†
Still very responsive, but easier to handle than UR1. Quick return to center and steering angle reactions make it easier to match the timing of transitions.
Slightly nervous behavior. On slippery P-tile surfaces, minor input errors can result in unstable motion.
Can be competitive with proper setup. Adjusting sensitivity and using deadband creatively enables 窶彷ast yet stable窶 driving.
Recommended for UR2:†
Drivers who want sharp response while maintaining some level of stability
Intermediate to advanced users who find UR3 a bit too heavy or dull
UR Type3†
Linear and smooth response. Steering and throttle inputs are reflected naturally, striking a perfect balance窶馬ot too quick, not too sluggish.
Very stable. Less prone to erratic movement, forgiving of small control mistakes, and easy to manage even on low-grip surfaces.
Great for drifting. Countersteering and throttle modulation feel fluid, making it easy to control 窶徼iming gaps窶 during drifts.
Recommended for UR3:†
Intermediate to advanced users looking for a balance of responsiveness and stability
Those focused on scale realism and visually appealing drift lines
Drivers who find UR2 a bit too sharp for certain tracks
UR Type4†
Exceptionally smooth. Gentle response to inputs, with no overreacting, resulting in very calm and predictable car behavior.
Easiest to handle. Even beginners can drive as intended, and car motion is easier to predict even on slippery P-tile surfaces.
Perfect for relaxed drift style. Ideal for expressing slow-motion-like, smooth sliding motions.
Recommended for UR4:†
Drift beginners or those just starting out
Drivers struggling to control cars on P-tile due to instability
Stability-focused users or those who prefer a 窶徃raceful窶 drift style
